The Basis idea for the DiVa'a was born in June 2014, in order to create a Polynesian Canoe - a Va'a , with about 7 meters lenghts, easy handable and transportable by everyone, even by persons with disabilities.
The Va'a is very "popular" in regions with direct access to the sea, but not every athlete has this perfect situation at home. So the idea was to develope a canoe that is simple to transport and easy to attach, for this it should be divisible with a telescopical like function. This allows every athlete to be mobile and paddle or compete everywhere with his/her own canoe that despite having this feature, still presents highest quality standards.

This project is a cooperation of the DiVa'a Team and the established engineer Umberto Felci, of Felcy Yacht Design. After Felci's designworks, he contacted the Fratelli De Angelis Modelleria with the order to create a wooden model of the Va'a, which was weighing about 300 kg. The mould was made by Cantieri Linetti.
new materials and new components
The manufacturer, who is working in close relationship with the engineer Felci, studied the materials to achieve the various components and diverse modes to assemble these.
Challenge was to implement the complex studies of the involved engineers regarding to the coupling flanges of the three parts of the canoe.
